Making a Historical Marker

The decision to the significance of what a marker would mean to Brown County was the first step for Peace Valley Heritage Preservation, aka PVH.  The founder of PVH, Ruth Reichmann, knew exactly which people and events should be recognized for the impact they made.  Specifically, as the front runners to having people come to see what the artist, photographers, musicians, and journalist saw in the people and beauty of Brown County.
The first choice was the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Music Jamboree in Bean Blossom, Indiana.  Not because it was the oldest or historical but that it was unique and the first such music venue of its kind.  Recognized as the oldest continuously running bluegrass music festival in the world.  Bill Monroe (1911-1996) known as the father of Bluegrass Music, came from Kentucky and started the jamboree in the 1930s. Today people travel to the yearly Bluegrass Festival from all over the world.  Host to the longest running and one of the most highly respected bluegrass festivals in the world, the historic Bill Monroe Music Park & Campground is also one of the largest campgrounds in southern Indiana. We feature full RV hookups (water & electric), as well as primitive tent and boondocking options, cabin or RV rentals, and so much more.
